Born Myra Ellen Amos, is better known as Tori Amos, changed her name at 17. Amos is an American singer/songwriter, composer, and pianist, born on August 22, 1963. She learned to play the piano early as two and has a mezzo-soprano vocal range. Little Earthquakes, released in 1992, was Tori Amos' debut album which reached gold in both the U.K. and in U.S. The albums following truly defined Amos as one of the 90's most essential musicians and "the wizard queen of alternative rock. " Amos converted her barn into a recording studio, due to her frustrations with corporate record labels, where she continues to make music.
