French composer Erik Satie published three piano pieces called "Gymopedies", the first one in 1888. They are melancholic, atmospheric pieces with a unique sound, and became quite famous. The "Gymnopedie No. 1" (Premiere Gymnopedie) starts with an alternating progression of two major seventh chords (Gmaj7 and Dmaj7).
