Ode to Joy theme is from the last movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125. The name comes from a 1785 poem by Friedrich Schiller, which provided the words for this movement. In 1972, the theme was chosen to be the official anthem of Europe.
