Piano Costume

Step 1: The Dress That Was Better than All the Rest

Piano Dress

Rarely can you find something that is both gimmicky and fashionable at the same time, but this dress achieves the feat with flying colors (in grayscale). Much like a piano, the piano dress is very classy and elegant. To a non-piano lover (clearly someone who has no soul), the dress might even pass as just a cute and somewhat whimsical-looking frock. But to fellow piano aficionados, there is no mistaking that those beautifully spaced black lines amidst a sea of white is no coincidence. To true piano lovers, this dress is virtually a tribal calling. And for that, we’ve dubbed this dress “the dress that is better than all the rest”. Now if you thought that was cool, just wait till you see step two of our fabulous costume, also known as…

Step 2: The Hippest Tights You’ll Ever See

Not much to say here. These tights are pretty much the definition of tight. Sorry for that… Let’s just let the tights do the talking.

Step 3: Let’s Get Some Shoes!

Flats? All-stars? High heels? Sneakers? Clown shoes? Doesn’t matter what kind of preference you have, the piano shoe industry (whoever those people are, we love you) has you covered. A quick Google search unravels a whole world of wonderous black and white piano shoe goodness. They haven’t yet invented piano shoes that play a tune as you walk, but seeing as you can nowadays already purchase shoes with mini umbrellas attached to them, we’d say it’s pretty much only a matter of time.

Step 4: The Accessories

For step four you must find these snazzy accessories…

Step 5: Cruella Deville Wishes She Had This Piano Wig!

Black and White Wig

Cruella Deville, you don’t like dogs and therefore we don’t like you. To dogs, heck, to humans even, you’re definitely no walk in the park (pun intended). But still, we’ll give you credit where credit is due, and boy do you have some great taste in hair design. So great in fact, that your hairstyle is a key element of our future award winning costume design! So trusty reader, to complete your piano-y look, you’ll need to stay in the black and white theme even hair-wise. If you’re a real perfectionist, make sure the top part is black and the bottom white, so it better resembles a piano. If details are less your thing, you can do it the other way around if your heart so desires. And for those of you whose physical age is betraying your inner child, you might as well stop dying those white roots for a while and just let nature do its thing. Embrace the beautiful white!

Step 6: Nail the Look with these Musically Gifted Nails

Piano Nails
So you’re 99.9% done with creating the best costume in the world. But the difference between second place and first is attention to detail. Therefore, to nail this look, you’ll have to give your nails some piano lovin’ too. That means whip out those black and white nail polishes and start getting musical! First, paint a coat of white on each nail and let dry. Follow this by ever so gently painting on the black strips. This part can be tricky on your own, so we suggest you find a gifted piano player to help out. Logic is, if they have the gentleness and grace to play beautiful music on the piano, they can surely do the same with your nails. 🙂
